St. Patrick’s Day Dash – Seattle

VRBO

I have been known to participate in a 5K here in there, but it has to meet my criteria. The 3 things I require to run a race are:

    1. It has to be a fun theme. Don’t ask me to run for something boring.
    2. It has to be raising money for something. I’m not going to roll out of bed early on a Sunday and pay a $30 registration fee unless I’m curing cancer by doing so.
    3. I must be promised a beer at the end.

The St. Patty’s Day Dash that happens annually in Seattle on St. Patrick’s weekend is one of my favorites because it is extra fun, the money raised is for a super legit cause, and there is a full on beer garden waiting for you at the end! The non-for-profit that puts on the dash is the Detlef Schrempf Foundation, who donate their funds to Northwest Children’s Charities… so really who doesn’t want to give back to a charity like that??

The race begins at the top of Seattle’s famous Mercer Street, takes you for a loop around the city, and unloads you at the Seattle Center Pavilion and Armory where there is a full-on massive indoor/outdoor beer garden waiting for you!

Costumes are encouraged, the bagpipes are blaring, and beer is flowing. It’s a BLAST!

A few friends and I were lucky enough to be featured in the Seattle Times one year thanks to my oversized inflatable beer mug, and my friend’s very creative “Pot O’ Gold” Costume”. Sorry for the terrible pictures, these were all snapped before I had a DSRL in my life!

This year, the Dash is Sunday, March 12th, and there is still time left to register here!
