Baby Registry Through Amazon – My Experience

This whole baby #2 thing is starting to get pretty real guys – I am finally in the 3rd trimester and have officially started counting down until baby time! We saved EVERYTHING from our 1st, so setting up the nursery was easy and most of our prep so far has involved my husband bringing in boxes from the garage for me to unpack. Between leftovers and a few new throw pillows and some wall decor from Home Goods, we easily went from a blank un-purposed room to a stuffed-full baby nursery with minimal effort!

I had been on the fence whether or not we needed to register and shop for baby #2 at all – I feel like we have so much, but at the same time I don’t want to live 100% off hand-me-down onesies and really instill that 2nd child FOMO from the get-go either. Though we are having two girls, I recognize they very much will be each their own person and deserve their own individual things. Also, heading back into baby-hood as a now seasoned parent there are some items I can look back on and say, this didn’t work, or I wish I got that instead. Ultimately, I decided I would do a baby registry again so that I can keep a shopping list of those few items it would be nice to have, that I wish I had the first time around.

When it comes to babies and weddings I am a fan of having a registry just because of the completion discounts! After our wedding it was so nice to go back and shop with our gift cards getting extra percentages off items for the sole reason that we registered with a company. Well, with baby registries this is a thing to, so I figured even if I am the only person shopping from my list, it of course is worth it to register so I can keep a list of what I want, and ultimately get extra discounts on things as I get closer to my due date.

Our 1st time around, we registered with Babies R’ Us… I mean, who didn’t? They had a total A-to-Z variety of all baby items under the sun so it made things easy. Now that the baby/toy mega-giant is no more, I was a little lost on where to register that would have all the items. “Buy Buy Baby” is a great store and similar in theme, but the closest one is a solid hour away from my house. And no, I am sure I would not find any joy in packing up a newborn and a toddler to joy ride several hours just to use a few gift cards and get diapers!

Amazon registries have been a buzz and are something I have considered in the past. Well, this time for the sake of their convenience and variety I decided to give them a try! Here are a few things I loved in particular about their setup:

  • Anyone who is an Amazon Prime Member can shop from my registry and get free shipping! Any other registry your guests are going to have to pay shipping charges.
  • You get an extensive FREE welcome box – more on this to come later in the post!
  • 10% completion bonus… 15% bonus if you are a Prime member. Heck yes!
  • Incredibly extensive inventory… I have everything on my registry from random replacement bottle parts and diapers/wipes to a designer double stroller. Do I expect my family and friends to buy me a designer stroller? Heck no! But I do plan to use my 15% completion bonus to snag it at a killer discount 🙂
  • Anyone who doesn’t want to shop off the registry but does want to contribute something can simply purchase an Amazon E-Gift Card… no in-person shopping required, and I can use it for more diaper/wipe purchases paired with free shipping and completion discounts in the future!

I have to say, baby isn’t here yet and I am still very happy with my Amazon registry experience so far. I of course am a Prime member (who isn’t?), so I am honestly looking forward to and planning on getting a good number of these items myself with the 15% completion discount as we get closer to baby time. Also, I qualified for my “Welcome Box” which arrived in the mail the other day, and I was thrilled with the number of full-size, quality samples that were included! There were a few different brands of white onesies, a muslin swaddle, full size Dr. Browns bottle (personal fav.), and a handful of organic baby soaps, wipes, etc. to try.

Disclaimer – I was not paid to write this post and these opinions are my own. I however am an Amazon Affiliate and do receive a small kickback if you sign up for Prime in the links provided in this post. I think Amazon Prime offers an incredibly convenient service and was a fan and member long before becoming an affiliate 🙂

  1. I LOVED the Amazon welcome box when #2 came 2 years ago! They have the best stuff! I have 2 boys and have been shocked at how my favorite clothes from #1 look meh on #2 and vice-versa. The are similar yet totally different at the same time! Congrats!
