It has been quite a while since I have put up a beauty post – I have been really looking forward to getting back into my IPSY reviews! With almost a year off from blogging I thought I would have piles of stuff to write about from all the glam bags I received in the mail since my last review… sadly after looking back through them all I realized there was really nothing worth calling home about. Sure there are things I use, but a lot that I have put in travel bags so I didn’t have to bring full-size products with me, and a lot I have gifted to my Buy Nothing Group as well.
Since IPSY wasn’t knocking my socks off I thought I would just hi-light my current beauty lineup must-haves. These are products I use every day and think are of great quality!
Let’s start with my #1 favorite possession in my makeup drawer – this Urban Decay Naked Smoky Eye Pallet. I am not very brave when it comes to eye shadow colors… I tend to rely heavily on nudes in my makeup routine. This pallet has some gorgeous shades of light nudes for an every-day, no-makeup kind of look. However, there are some fun darker tones if you want to add some serious drama (the black metallic and purple are my favorites). Whether I am doing my makeup for an average day at work or special date night out this pallet includes every tone I need and I am simply obsessed with it!

What use is the perfect eye shadow without the perfect mascara to go with it? I am a self-declared mascara snob. I would spend almost any dollar amount on a good mascara and in the past was known to regularly dish out $30 for a single a tube of Diorshow. Thanks to an IPSY bag of years past, I was let on to the Balm’s Mad Lash Mascara and thought it was just as fantastic as my favorite Dior one, but at 1/3 of the price. I now grab my Mad Lash on Amazon where it is two tubes for $20 (plus free shipping with prime!).

Now, on to contouring. I’m not one of those crazy contour chicks who pile on 35 layers of yellow and green concealers trying to make my face look like a plastic doll. I do however know the benefits of having a good bronzer and knowing how to add a little shape to your face by applying it properly. This Bobbi Brown bronzer is one I picked up at a Nordstrom sale and really enjoy – I like how matte it is (I really don’t pull off the ‘dewy’ look well) and the shade is great.

On to skin. This winter I have had the WORST time keeping my skin hydrated, I think because our family got hit by flu season super hard (more like pneumonia and RSV!) and I was just constantly washing and sanitizing my hands. When we are in Hawaii I love to shop local and support small island businesses. I picked up some things from Maui Soap Company, including this Awapuhi Hawaiian Body Butter. It absorbs fast and leaves you feeling nice and moisturized and the 2 oz jar is awesome for traveling with. Plus, 5% of their net profits are donated to help protect Hawaiian wildlife. These body butters come in other scents such as Coconut, Mango, and Plumeria. I enjoy the Awapuhi because it is a light and neutral scent, and I like to mix in a drop or two of floral essential oils when I apply it and it is so nice!
Lastly, let’s not forget to take care of our hair! 2019 has been an exceptionally bad hair year for me thanks to postpartum hormone changes. Not only is my hair falling out in clumps (joy!), but it also just super damaged and dry. I am badly in need of a way to add moisture to my hair without leaving it greasy, and this Pure Brazilian Leave In Conditioner has been just the thing to do so. A little spritz of this to my ends and it tames all my fly-away’s and leaves me with nice smooth locks. With a new baby I super don’t have extra time on my hands to work in more hair washes into my week, and to my surprise this does not leave a product-y or greasy feel so my general hair maintenance has been just the same, only looking better!

So, have you ever heard of or tried any of these before? What are your beauty faves so far this year? These are all solids in my book and I am sure will be a part of my routine for a long time to come!
