Adult coloring – when the fad started I knew I wouldn’t be able to say no to this. I grew up with artist parents so we were always putting together art projects for us to try, but coloring was one of my favorites.
The fact that it is now acceptable for adults to do is not something that I am sad about! I admittedly have struggled with a lot of postpartum anxiety and have been keeping my mind open to different outlets to help relax my mind, and adult coloring has been recommended for these reasons.
What I like about it:
-It is mindless. Someone draws the lines for you and you just scribble in them.
-It helps you be creative!
-It is expressive. Get your mood out with the colors you choose.
-It is relaxing! My favorite time to color is with a glass of wine in the evening after my kid has fallen asleep.
I have seen lots of people coloring with gel pens, which I would actually recommend. The nice thing about gel pens is that they are low maintenance (it drives me crazy sharpening my pencils all the time!). The disadvantage is that they can be a little expensive to replace if you color a lot. I use colored pencils because they are erasable and my little doll of a toddler LOVES coloring on walls 🙂

Love adult coloring books as well! Great way to relax 🙂
I’m such a sucker for adult colouring books too. They’re so much fun and so relaxing 🙂
If you want a more mindless relaxing coloring session, try Colouring By Numbers! It requires less brain action, but of course you’d still need to be mindful of the different numbers hahaha. See my blogpost here: https://contradictorydialogues.wordpress.com/2017/05/04/feigned-expert/
I used to color by numbers as a kid! I’ll check your post out for sure
I was the same way when “adult coloring” got really big. In truth I never ever really stopped coloring! LOL. I too used it as a stress reliever! I am a new follower and loving all that I have read so far.
Ha ha that’s awesome! I did stop for a while but then when “adult coloring” came out I was like, hey don’t have to ask me twice 😂 Thanks for following, I followed you back! Love finding great new blogs to read! ♥️
Just starting, got a lot of work to do! I will be adding some more info real soon! Thanks again for the follow.
I have always wanted to get one of these colouring books but never got around to getting one. Now that uni has finished for the year, i might get one! Seems amazing as a relaxation tool ❤
You should give them a try! They are surprisingly satisfying. I have a few smaller books too and enjoy those because you can get satisfaction out of finishing up a page with just a few free minutes. I recommend trying it with a glass of wine 😉
I will for sure! Ahh i don’t drink wine but some fizzy pop will do the job 🤗
I find it hard to leave the blank white spaces in the background lol.
