Restaurant Review of the Week – Purple Cafe Seattle

My knee-jerk reaction was to not write about Purple Cafe and Wine Bar because I know that they are a well-established restaurant and loved by the masses here in Seattle. Any good wine-loving person in the PNW knows that this is the perfect destination for amazing food, savory apps, and unlimited wine choices. I however decided to override my initial thoughts; just because they are popular shouldn’t disqualify them from a little more publicity!! This is one of my favorite date spots and they have never strayed from amazing food or wine.

We have visited Purple many times over the years in all of their locations, but their flagship in Seattle will always be my favorite! The tall ceilings, natural light and of course their signature grand spiral staircase surrounding their wine racks all are parts of their ambiance which is so well done.

Some other things I especially love about Purple Cafe:

  • Their wine list is insane! They have pages of different flights to sample based on what your preferences are. You can find the expected types of flights such as Rose or Pinot Noir, but they also feature some interesting ones that take you on journeys around the world and give you the ability to taste from some very old or unique vines and climates!
  • Their food is to die for. Every time I go I HAVE to order either the baked Brie or some type of pate. This time it was a chicken liver mousse and it was like creamy butter heaven and I liked it so much that I didn’t even bother ordering dinner!
  • The ambiance is beautiful. This is the exact experience I want to have when going out and drinking wine. It makes for a great standby date night venue, or a place to bring out-of-town guests that you know won’t miss.

You can find Purple Cafe and Wine Bar (Seattle) at: 1225 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98101

They are also part of the “Heavy Restaurant Group” which features some of my other absolute favorites…. Barrio, Lot No. 3, and the Commons.

  1. Hey – i’m glad you shared your experience! Those of us that don’t live in the PNW don’t know about this cool spot. That staircase and the wine – that was enough to hook me in.

    1. That’s what I was thinking! Just because it’s big in Seattle doesn’t mean others know about it! Hopefully people fine this post when touristing and decide to give it a try because it really is lovely!♥️🍷

  2. Wow, it sounds like my kind of place! The wine staircase looks awesome! It’s on my wishlist now 🙂 Thanks for posting this.
