Hi all, I hate when I go radio silent on here and don’t post for a few weeks, but sometimes it just needs to happen! In a perfect world I would have time for it all, but I am a working parent of two kiddos and all that comes first before my blog. On top of all that, we are currently in the process of selling our house and buying our dream home! It all feels surreal and totally amazing, but at the same time it is extremely stressful. Let me tell you that staging and showing a house on the market with two small kids is a nightmare! Even on their absolute best behavior the messes happen so fast (I mean, they are kids!) and I also don’t want this move to take away from their quality of life and fun family time. It has been a struggle, but we are making it through. We are working with the kindest buyers on our place, and are in escrow/underwriting for our new home, so there is a lot making us feel blessed.
To add to our already busy calendars, there is quite a bit going on in our lives too! At the end of October we celebrated Vienna’s first birthday. I made lasagna and picked up a pumpkin pie from Snohomish Pie Company for her first birthday cake. She was teething and had a grumpy day but we still had fun… luckily she felt better for her big farm party we threw a few weeks back! I want to head back to Snohomish Pie Co. sometime soon and try out their lunch menu and maybe even one of their pie shakes – they look fantastic!

I had an event at work then flew immediately from the event to the Malibu Boats Dealer Meeting in Phoenix Arizona. These meetings are always lots of fun but travel in general tires me out and my body just doesn’t handle being away from my home and routine very well. I did do myself a favor and snuck away for a few hours to treat myself at the spa and that was totally worth it, at least until our flight was delayed 8 hours the next day and that somewhat unraveled my relaxation.

My trip brought me home JUST in time to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary! We have a duck breast recipe we love from a Williams Sonoma cookbook that my hubby is really good at putting together. We used the extra duck breast to make Eggs Benedict in the morning, and that sure was a good decision! Okay good for my stomach but not my waistline, haha. Apparently, your 5th anniversary is the “wood” anniversary, so with our tight moving budget we decided we would pick out a nice dining table for our house as our present. Cheesy? Yes but I need a new dining table!

This is the Williams Sonoma cookbook our favorite duck breast recipe is in. We LOVE several in here! (Affiliate Link)

The list keeps going! The Seattle Sounders are hosting the MLS Cup at home, which for you non-soccer watchers that is like the Super Bowl being hosted in your home town when your team is playing. My husband is freaking out over this, so we of course are going! It is possibly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and we are stoked to have tickets.
The following week we leave for Willamette Valley, OR with my family from the east coast! It is my dad’s 60th birthday, so we are celebrating with a trip to Oregon Wine Country for him. We have a house rented for us in McMinnville, OR (I have never been before so if you have suggestions I would love to hear them!) and plan to take him fly fishing and wine tasting a bunch. Since we are all flying back to different states after this week and won’t see each other for actual Thanksgiving, we thought it would be fun to prepare a traditional turkey dinner while we are all together in Oregon, which I think will be a lot of fun. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite meals of the year and I love to cook for it!
On our return home, it will be time to close paperwork on our new house and move! AHHH! So incredibly exciting, but as I am sure you can guess, so busy! If there is any silver lining in this, it is that we will be in our beautiful new home for the whole month of December together, and can finally relax and enjoy our first holiday season in our forever home.
So there you have it – this is all why my blog posts have been M.I.A.!
