It’s official – summer is over. Hello, fall 2019! I can’t believe how fast this year is going. I’m about to have a one-year-old baby! Summer here in the Northwest wasn’t as hot as it has been the past few years, so that may have been why the season seemed to cruise by even faster.
Despite the fact we had the opportunity to squeeze in quite a few of the activities I had hoped we would from my end of summer bucket list. I am a big believer in list/goal writing because I feel like it reminds you what you want to accomplish and really keeps you accountable! I honestly wrote that blog post and checked back on it frequently to see if there was an idea I forgot, or to re-inspire the plans I made with the kiddos. We seriously chipped away at our end of summer bucket list and had a ton of fun along the way!
Here is the progress we made:
Try a new ice cream shop – well we didn’t hit this dead on since we visited Salt and Straw Seattle for some scoops and have been there before. However we did try some fun and new flavors, so I vote it counts! In case you didn’t see it earlier, here is the post I wrote about the super inventive west-coast ice cream shop.
Go pick berries – YES, we totally did this one! Not only did we pick POUNDS of blackberries right in our driveway, but Viv and I made a delicious blackberry cobbler with them. I think next year I will change it up and do a blackberry pie.
Spend the day at the beach – YES to this too! We also had a photographer follow us and she captured some super sweet photos of the girls and I playing around at Golden Gardens and they turned out so special, I love them!
Take baby girl to her first Mariners game – sadly, this was a no. I feel like we had multiple plans every week this summer and it was so hard to find the time! The weather and our calendars did not match up. I am actually more sad for our 4-year-old because she loves baseball… I don’t think the baby will remember, haha.
Head to the splash park – there is actually a super cute splash park near our house that we hit a few times, and I even met one of my blog mom friends there for some fun with the kiddos! Not many people know about this location, so it is my secret. *wink*
Go to a concert at Chateau Ste. Michelle – this one was a so close… my husband bought me tickets for my birthday… the same weekend we planned to be on vacation. Thanks for trying babe, LOL.
Go camping – we accomplished this one and it was such a win! We booked a cabin on the waterfront at Cama Beach on Camano Island and did an overnight there and the place is seriously so cute. I couldn’t not blog about it (yes you have to deal with my choice of double negatives here) because I LOVED it so much! What a special ‘first’ memory of us all camping together as a family of 4. Here is the post!
Try a new winery in Woodinville – I am writing this with like two days left in summer (on paper) and we will be in Chelan for both of them. So first of all, I know a new winery will happen in Chelan before summer is over, and second I think a fall Woodinville winery visit sounds just as fantastic!
These are all the things we squeezed into August alone, and on top of it all we both work full-time and are trying to list our house for sale. Ahh! Our lives are so busy right now but I am so incredibly grateful, especially for this first summer that we spent together as a family of 4. I can’t imagine having two sisters who were any sweeter to each other, and they have me feeling like a very lucky mama.
So, what was the hi-light of your summer? Any bucket-list items you checked off that really made the season for you? I would love to hear about them!
